Padmashri awardee Ghazal singer veteran Pankaj Udhas passed away on Monday today after prolonged illness. He was suffering from cancer for a few months now and was not meeting anyone. He died at the age of 72. Many film industry associates and friends expressed sadness at the passing away of the singer and music veteran Pankaj Udhas ji.
One of the film exhibitors from Mumbai, Manoj Desai, Gaiety Galaxy and Maratha Mandir also expressed shock at the passing away of Pankaj Udhas ji. He said he knew Pankaj Udhas ji personally and he and Pankaj Udhas ji were classmates. They studied in the same college and he knew Pankaj Udhas ji for more than 30 years now.
He recalled various occasions where he and Pankaj Udhas ji have collaborated for various shows and music events, even events for charity. He even said, veterans like Bhupen Hazarika and Anup Jalota respected Pankaj Udhas ji. They used to perform charity events without taking a penny, he recalled.
